Understanding the Mass

Below is a series of talks we've put together as part of RCCV's liturgical renewal initiative. These talks are designed to deepen our parishioners' understanding of the Mass, re-ignite their reverence for the Holy Eucharist, and open their hearts to a “fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, paragraph 14).

Whether you have been attending Mass for decades or are just beginning to explore Catholic tradition, may these talks enrich your spiritual journey and renew your sense of wonder and awe every time you enter into the celebration of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Mass: What to Expect

If you have never been to Mass before, or if you haven't gone in a long time, we are excited to have you join us as we celebrate and worship together. We understand that it may feel foreign at first, and that some parts might seem confusing. The last thing we would want is for you to feel unwelcome during the service, so we have shared the resources below to help you get an idea of what the Mass is, and why we do what we do during the celebration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. You can also explore and understand the liturgy more by visiting the "What is Liturgy?" page on this site.
