Eucharistic Parish
God is doing something AMAZING in YOUR LIFETIME!
With the blessing of our pastor, Father Peter Nguyen, our parishes within the Roman Catholic Churches of Vernon (RCCV) will endeavor to make the Holy Eucharist central to our identity and mission. Let us journey daily towards the restoration of understanding and devotion to this great mystery, and renew our worship of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Below is our two-fold plan:
Ignite the flame
Explore biblical evidence that explains why the Eucharist is the "source and summit of our Christian faith." Watch the 5-part video series on Eucharistic Talks which can be found on this link.
Stoke the fire
Throughout the year, we will hold micro-initiatives that will reinvigorate worship and create moments of personal encounter that build up the Eucharistic heart of our parishioners to respond to the call of becoming missionaries for the Church. At a minimum, the following events are slated to happen:
Celebrate Corpus Christi Sunday - Also known as the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, this feast honours Jesus Christ who is Really, Truly and Substantially Present under the appearances of bread and wine. For more details on this celebration, go to the Corpus Christi Sunday page.
Liturgical Renewal - throughout the liturgical year, we will hold workshops that lead to the re-commissioning of those who serve in our churches -- those who are closest to the Eucharist -- to rekindle their love not only for their service to the Lord, but for the Lord of their service.
Promotion of Eucharistic Adoration - we will run campaigns to educate parishioners on the importance of and the graces that come with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We will invite more people to accompany and adore our Eucharistic Lord during the hours that the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in our churches.
Exhibit: Eucharistic Miracles of the World - We will host the Vatican approved Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit. The exhibit, which was designed and created by Blessed Carlo Acutis, features panels that each tell the story of a Eucharistic miracle and allow you to “virtually visit” the places where the miracles took place.
For Kids: "Encounters with Jesus" - One of the goals of our Eucharistic Revival is that it will foster in our children the recognition and devotion to Our Lord who gives himself to us in the Blessed Sacrament. Throughout the year, we will facilitate activities that will help deepen children's understanding of the Eucharist and the Mass.
Teaching Masses - Teaching Masses include commentary by the priest explaining the liturgy he is celebrating – its meaning, structure and symbolisms. Because it would take too long to parse the entire eucharistic liturgy in the time allotted for a Sunday Mass, our pastor will divide the teaching into seven lessons to be delivered over seven 4th-Sundays from April to October.
Solemnity of Christ the King - we will conclude our Eucharistic Revival program on the last Sunday of the liturgical year as we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, or Christ the King.
